Sakagura cordially invites you its much-anticipated the annual summer festival. “Natsumatsuri” in Japan is often basically based around three main events, with food stalls, entertainments, and carnival games to keep people enjoyed. We will guide you through four nights in a row recreating a traditional Japanese summer festival, with Nihon-shu (of course), High-ball, Chu-hi, foods stalls (it won’t be the stalls, but creative and high quality dishes from executive chef, Mr. Yasuhiro Honma), entertainments (wearing ‘yukata’ Japanese summer kimono,‘happi’ Japanese straight-sleeved coat, and ‘sakagura maekake’ sake master’s apron), and raffles (you might get Sakagura’s gift certificate) !
Why don't we enjoy the ending summer season with seasonal sakes and Japanese cuisine? Dress lightly to enjoy Natsumatsuri; wearing your yukata would be perfect for this occasion!

We are very excited to announce the arrival of summer exclusive Tanabata festival sake event!
“Tanabata” is known as the “Japanese Star Festival” and is usually held on the 7th day of the 7th month of the year. The festival commemorates two star-crossed lovers Princess Orihime and Prince Hikoboshi who could not be together on earth, but come together once a year in the heavens as stars.
The tasting is a standing-style limited to 35 guests. Cost per person is $50 which includes tax and tip. We will serve 4 kinds of carefully selected Hakkaisan brands including a special Hakkaisan Daiginjo not for sale in the U.S. Market. The tasting also includes Niigata specialty’s appetizers paired with the sake. You receive a special sake glass as a gift from Hakkaisan Brewery. To celebrate Tanabata, please feel free to wear relaxing and comfortable Yukata to this event!
Also, Mr. Jiro Nagumo, President of Hakkaisan Sake Brewery will be in attendance to pour his sakes for you!

Yoshinogawa Brewery was founded in 1548, Yoshinogawa is a bit more than the Great Granddad of Niigata sake, it is the founder of a distinct sake region that today is known as the “Bordeaux” of sake. Niigata is located North and West of Tokyo, along the sea of Japan.

Sakagura is very excited to announce the arrival of our anticipated Sake Tasting Event in 2010. The tasting event will feature over 50 selections include newly arrived sakes that are yet to be introduced in the New York market carefully chosen from sake masters and distributors who have been taking an active part in the “Nihon-shu” industry in the U.S. market.
It would take a life time consume all the different varieties of sake available, but we believe these selections will open up new regions of the palette for tasters.
Sakagura will be decorated with lots of fresh real cherry blossoms in the whole restaurant. We will serve Sakagura Executive Chef, Mr. Yasuhiro Honma’s special seasonal dishes on this event. Welcome you to join us and let us “KANPAI” under the amazing sakura trees!
